Ok , i have some history with this guy , he is pretty passive and i have bluffed him out of a couple of pots with pot sized bets .

I was nt really focusong at the time and when he min raise me i thought it was a little odd

I thought about the possibility of AJ when he bet the turn but i just didnt want to believe it , a rush of blood and its all over .

Really dissapointed with this hand . I certainly should have lead out !! but i had him on a weaker hand AQ AT or AJ !! i should have listened

Does anyone else play like this sometimes , i mean FFS whats going on here ?

Later All

I do this all the time or used to until a comment from Martin (Dodgyken) on my blog last week which I made a follow up post about - "A raise on the turn usually means that 1 Pair" is beaten. 2 weeks ago I would have done the same as you. Today I probably fold.

What did you hope to happen/what was the rationale for your shove?

This is a bit ott that is such a dangerous board to be getting in with TP. If you stop and think you wouldnt do this you have to learn to control that rush of blood. Easier said than done though!

So what you're saying is that poker is like sex? Mmmkay, I can buy that.

As you know, this is exactly the kind of trouble you get in when you let the frustration build up.

The strategy is not really important here because you knew you were beat and did it anyway.

What you need are tools to help you control the frustration and fight off the tilt.

Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of answers there.

I try to do things like verbalizing my reasoning and falling back on the old byline of not losing a big pot with a small pot hand.

When you're in a downswing, often your judgment is impaired so don't trust it. Don't make moves. Don't convince yourself the villain is making moves. Play your hand and assume he's playing his. The fog will pass and your judgment will return and then you can go back to playing optimal poker.

I'm actually making some notes for a couple blog pieces on pulling yourself out of downswings. It's what I've had the most experience with lately and everyone has that kind of trouble at some point so I figure it's something I can contribute.
